I've just purchased new life cover. What do I need to do?

There are a few things you'll want to do when taking out new life cover.

Upon taking out life cover, there are a few things that you'll want to do:here are the main things to look out for. A minute of checking at the start can save a world of issues at claim time!

Cancel: any cover that your new policy is replacing
If this policy is replacing existing cover, you can go ahead and cancel your old cover to avoid double payments. Need help? Get in touch with your broker or email hello@compareclub.com.au.

Check: Your personal details
Double check the correct spelling of your legal name, and that your date of birth is right.

Check: Your benefit amount
Make sure the benefit amount is the amount that you applied for.

Check: Your premium amount
Is the amount, and payment frequency correct?

Check: Your policy issue date
Is the start date of the policy correct?

Check: Your policy number and insurer name
Make sure you share this information with your loved ones.

Check: Your risk class
This is where you're identified as a smoker/non-smoker etc. It'll likely be in your medical assessment history, or similar.

Check: Your beneficiary details
This is the person or organisation who will receive the benefit of your insurance policy at claim time. Double check that this is correct/ Are your beneficiary details correct?

Check: Name of the policy owner
Make sure the policy owner’s name is correct (check for spelling mistakes). The policy owner/holder is the one who applied for the policy, had set up the policy and would be paying the premium. This person is the only one who has access to policy information and can change the beneficiaries listed on the policy. If anything is incorrect, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Check: Billing
To cover the first payment for your new cover, check that you have enough funds in the account linked to your policy.

Tell: Your loved ones
Tell your loved ones about this policy. They'll need to know the insurer name, and policy number, should they need to claim on your behalf.

Claim: Your Club+ account
Set up your free Club+ account from here you can access details of your new cover, customer support, as well as a range of other perks.
